Are We Comparing Apples to Apples?

We are in the process of purchasing window treatments and the pricing is so confusing from the various retailers. What should we do to make sure we are comparing apples to apples?

It is important to do your homework and investigate all of your options. Are you comparing the same identical product, could it be that you are being quoted a private label vs. a name brand? Is installation included? Are you possibly being quoted with a varying degree of product quality? Are the sizes and measurements all the same? It is important to also take a look at the guarantee and warranty, are you possibly being charged for something other than standard and included installation and warranty? Mounting brackets and type of hardware, is the proportion and placement the same? These are some helpful hints which should help you align your pricing.


Window technology has improved by leaps and bounds over the past several years. It is important to keep in mind when purchasing windows whether retrofit or new, the windows should at a minimum, at least be Energy Star qualified.
